Rocking the body

Intent: Understanding the interconnectivity of the body through simple movements

Lay on the ground and let your body sink into the floor for a moment. With your heels touching the floor, push them into the floor, pointing your feet slightly towards you. Repeat this movement back and forwards and let your complete body join the rocking. Feel how the movement that starts in your feet, affects your whole body. Keep on rocking. Now lift up one leg, bent your knee and place your foot again on the ground. See and feel what happens with the different body parts when you push your foot into the floor. Keep on playing a game of pushing and letting go, while the movement resonates throughout your body and affects other parts. Now role over to your side and push the palm of your hand into the floor, periodically releasing the pressure. Take your time to rock back and forth, using your hands and feet, the floor and gravity, to give impulses to the body.
